The ancestors of the Brazilian terrier were undoubtedly small dogs that Brazilians brought back from their trips abroad. It seems established that not only Jack Russell terriers, but also Chihuahuas and pinschers participated in the birth of this breed which was provisionally recognized by the FCI only in 1995.
