origins
It is said of the Grand bleu de Gascogne that he would be the direct descendant of the Saint Hubert dog and that it would be from him that a large number of French hound breeds were bred. Paintings by contemporary masters show similar dogs already in the packs of Henry IV. Nowadays, it has practically disappeared as a pure breed. It was used for hunting wolves and deer.
