This dog is especially widespread in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenia and Kyrgyzstan where it has guarded herds for centuries. Its naturally biting character requires a firm and consistent education. He submits to a single master, so we can sometimes witness hierarchical struggles between him and the other members of the family.
